Have you ever woke up in the morning, staggered over to the bathroom mirror, looked up and thought, “Who are you?” Then just as quickly, you put yourself in the normal distracted state. Teeth must be brushed, hair combed, shower, clothes, and then off to the daily grind. This pattern continues throughout your day and on through the night until the next morning when you are caught off guard once again in your semi-conscious state by the person in the mirror. The question is, “when did we forget to be ourselves?” Only in the shortest seconds of our lowered guards do we even register with ourselves that something is wrong. The awkwardness and shock of that moment is all it takes to reinforce our “hamster wheel-ology”. Then when things in our lives “normalize” and we actually experience life on life\\\'s terms, it\\\'s almost too much to bear. We find ourselves indulging in addictive behavior, seeking expensive (and sometimes debilitating) medical intervention, withdrawing into depression and loneliness. All because that person in the mirror is foreign. There is a solution, and it is surprisingly simple... (Drum roll please)... “Do...nothing”. Yes, you are reading this correctly, do nothing. Take a day off from habitual distraction and be with yourself. Start by waking up in the morning, looking at yourself in the mirror, and examining what\\\'s really going on. How do you look? How do you feel? Look into those soul-enriched eyes. The beauty there is stunning, and it IS beauty. Look at your body and see all the good things about it. Smile at yourself in the mirror. Look how everything lights up with just that small gesture. Talk to yourself (don\\\'t worry, no one will be there to turn you over to the authorities). Ask yourself what you want to do today and expect an answer. Feel everything. How comforting it is to stay in a long hot shower and how it feels on your skin. What does food really taste like when you give yourself the time to really sit and enjoy it? How much more positive are the articles in the newspaper or on the news when you are in a space of peace? Today is not a day for negativity, today is a day for new beginnings. Now I am not saying that by doing this one little thing for one day that all of a sudden everything in your life will change and align instantly to the most positive state imaginable. That would totally underestimate the reality of this experiment, for the truth is much greater. Taking the time out to get to know yourself for one day with no distractions will not only give you a much needed break, it will also allow flow. Flow is a natural energy state of positivity coming to you and into your experience without you controlling or manipulating an effort. Flow is where miracles are born, dreams come true, and lives transform. Flow is God in the purest sense of the word, totally supporting you, the Universe catering to your every whim, and you aligned to your highest most divine self. Giving yourself time to know yourself is the most life transforming thing you can do. Better than any seminar, any healing, any article... anything. It may take more than one day to really get into the groove of you, but isn\\\'t that way more fun than just “going through the motions?” Humans need spice in their life, they need fun, relaxation, and most important spontaneity. Denying yourself these necessities for the silly reason of “just too busy”, is like denying a child their “childhood” because it would take to much time to get through. Open your eyes, take a deep breath, and listen as your Self says to you “Well hello there, I sure have missed you”. |
